Brazil Agricultores Lambari Dry Process

This coffee comes from an all-female group of small producers in Lambari Municipality, the Association of Coffee Women Entrepeneurs, or "AMECAFE" for short. While there are currently more than 150 members, this particular blend is made up of coffee from 5 producers from the micro regions of Cristina, Lambari and São Gonçalo do Sapucaí. Their farms sit at and average of 1300 meters above sea level (1200 is the lowest) and are planted in Red and Yellow Catuaí. This is our first year working with a woman from the area who has set up a buying operation in this region focused on buying from three different local sources: small holders in the south, Amecafe (look out for that one in the near future) as well as a few larger estates in her home town. Her father has an estate of his own which is where her initial coffee background is from.

Nutty sweetness and bittersweet chocolate flavors are nicely developed in the somewhat tight range of City+/Full City. The brewed coffee has hefty body and rustic sweet flavors that give way to murky hints of fruit and creamy nut tones that reminded me of Brazil nut and hazelnut. Roast tones in the cup hit the tastebuds like a semi-sweet chocolate bar and leave behind something closer to earth-toned carob in aroma. City+ roasts cool to flavors of sweet peanut sauce and an interesting rustic melon note.
